Virtual trip to Wales with WiseOceans
Last Wednesday, our students took a virtual trip to Wales to meet Hannah Harries, an oceanographer and representative of WiseOceans.
WiseOceans works to protect the marine environment and runs educational programmes for school children worldwide. Wise Oceans works in many corners of the world, engaging in scientific research, expeditions, and educational programs. WiseOceans educators are a great source of knowledge and inspiration for students. Hannah talked to us about the importance of awareness regarding the need to care for the oceans, reducing plastic use, and the coral reef restoration program.
We learned a lot of relevant information about the work of WiseOceans and viewed photos and videos taken by Hannah during her time in Seychelles. Students had the opportunity to ask many questions, including what is a water column, do fish feel thirst, and is the polar ice cap composed of fresh or saltwater?
