In the age of the Internet and smartphones, shortwave communications may seem like a pastime of a bygone era. Nothing more mistaken!

Today we hosted at the Academy Mr. Przemysław Błaśkiewicz from Wroclaw Shortwave Club SP6PRT, who revealed to us the secrets of telegraph, Morse code and shortwave communication.
We listened to the conversations of pilots from flying planes, we communicated with Japan, USA and with the station in Mokronos Górny. A several-meter antenna was installed in the garden.

- is this frequency free?
- CQ from Sierra Papa Six Papa Romeo Tango, calling CQ...

This is how we called other radio stations encouraging conversation.

We learned about ethical aspects and good practices in shortwave communications. We learned what radio communication is used for every day and why it is the best method of communication in space.
The activities corresponded perfectly with our lessons about sound, during which we conducted experiments to learn the properties of materials in terms of wave conduction and insulation.
We would like to thank Przemek for his visit and for sharing his passion with us!
