World Bicycle Day - June 3
World Bicycle Day is a relatively young holiday, established in 2018 by the United Nations. Its originator was a Pole, Leszek Sibilski, and we celebrate it every year on June 3.
A group of Redwoods, at our Montessori Academy that day, learned how to build the popular unicycle. The children learned the names of the parts - both on Montessori cards and on a real bike. They also learned about the history of evolution of the vehicle and the rules of safe movement.
Bicycle is an ecological form of transport, available for everyone, but it also requires special caution because of shared traffic routes with pedestrians or cars. It is worth learning about this from an early age!
